We find that the curtain that separated the Holy of Holys from the rest of the Temple was torn in two at Christ’s crucifixion. This pictured opening access to the Father through Christ’s life and death and resurrection. In the Old Covenant only the High Priest had access to the Holy of Holys on the annual day of Atonement.  Now through the works of Christ, we may all have access to the Father at all times through faith in Christ.   

44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, 45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain [separating the Holy place from the Holy of Holys] of the temple was torn in two. 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.  Luke 23:44-46, NIV
