Progressive Creation

Progressive creation is one of the first theories early geologists believed a couple of hundreds of years ago. Complicated geological and paleontological findings could no longer be fit into Noah’s Flood. Therefore the days of Creation were accepted as long ages wherein God gradually introduced new forms of life.
The belief was later abandoned by many after Darwin introduced his theory of evolution. However, it still retains a following today, mainly by those who hold to an ancient age of the Earth while rejecting the theory of evolution. See the following website for a good critique of the day/age and progressive creation theory.
